Audio Calibration

Audio calibration is fun and easy to do. You can get the best possible audio quality from your television and DVD player by using a combination of an audio calibration DVD and audio calibration equipment. Audio calibration makes it possible for you to determine what the best sound levels are for the speakers in your room, and set the audio levels for your DVD player, VCR player, TV and other media player appliances.

You can perform audio calibration in your home theater area or you can do it for a larger area or a more public area such as for church sound system calibration. The one piece of equipment that is most important for performing audio calibration wherever you are is a sound calibration meter. This is also known as a sound pressure level meter, but there are variations on the design that have different numbers of sound pressure detectors and ways of interpreting the data that they collect with algorithms that can describe things about the intensity of the local audio. Some kinds of audio calibration devices have entire suites of audio recording / detecting sensors as well as sophisticated programs that can give you the best more professional sense of how the sound reflects in different areas of a room (i.e. not only can you check the audio calibration of speakers for recording purposes, you can check room acoustics).

If you are simply working out the audio calibration of your DVD player or home sound system as part of your home entertainment theater room sound system calibration, you can use your Bruel sound level meter calibration with some kind of DVD based audio calibration tool. An example of this would be using Avia to calibrate audio: Avia is one of the most popular brands of audio calibration discs that you can get for a DVD player, and it allows you to perform various sweeps and noise tests that you can then test with your hand held audio calibration tool / sound pressure level meter, etc. to work out the best points in a room for seating based on your DVD speaker arrangement, as well as determine if there are any problems with how your DVD speakers and sound system are set up so you can get the optimal sound quality for all of the movies and television shows that you like to watch in your home theater on DVD.
