HDTV Tuners

An HDTV tuner is a new kind of television tuner that is capable of picking up the digital television signals that are broadcast from stations that follow the HDTV (High Definition TV) protocol in the United States and South Korea. An HDTV tuner card is also known as an ASTC receiver. With HDTV and tuner one can enjoy the high definition programming that has much greater resolution, contrast and color than the existing shows on TV today. Since many stations across the United States are already experimenting with broadcasts of high definition TV, you can use an HDTV external tuner and connect that to your normal low definition TV through an adaptor in order to watch shows on the HDTV broadcast with your existing TV, or you can just buy one of the HDTV digital TVs with HDTV tuners preinstalled and be ready to start enjoying high definition digital television shows right off the bat.

2009 is the year that is currently planned for the end of the standard TV signals that are currently used in the United States, although it is possible that this date could be moved back (it has been moved back multiple times in the past). It has been argued that many low income families will be cut off from their only source of television programming when the old NTSC system goes dark, and there may have to be continuing NTSC broadcasts for a time in some areas. Some people, however, will simply have to get an external HDTV tuner, or some kind of other HDTV tuner receiver (a Samsung HDTV tuner, a DVD with HDTV tuner, an Ota HDTV tuner, a USB HDTV tuner, etc.). HDTV tuner cards for laptops do not cost that much either, and by reading an HDTV tuner review you can find a good price on an HDTV receiver tuner or HDTV terrestrial tuner

By connecting an HDTV tuner to an LCD projector you can get possibly the largest projected high definition picture possible - receiving a high definition television image on your tuner and projecting it, still in high definition through the digital LCD projector onto the wall of your home. If you want to enjoy the HDTV programming that is now being broadcast by the major networks and you want to watch it in style this may be the best way to do it given the current state of the art.
