VCR

The VCR came into our lives like a great ball of fire and now it's dying a very slow death to the DVD player. When the VCR first came out it was herald as the next big thing and it was. Through the years you would be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't had a VCR player or at least used a VCR. They seemed to be everywhere and almost everyone had at least one in their home. So, what has happen to the VCR and why isn't it the player of choice in homes today.

VCR players could do alot of different things, but one of the hardest things people had to learn was how to program it. It use to be a chore trying to program it and that was just one of the problems you had with the VCR. After using it alot they would tend to eat up the VCR tapes. I don't know how many times a VCR I owned would eat one of my favorite tapes up. This was very frustrating to VCR owners. People would get so mad sometimes they would just stop using them. The quality of VCR tapes were okay, but not the quality of DVD players of today.

People have wanted better quality from their VCR's, but they could only do so much. That was the problem with VCR players they just could only do so much and that was the underlying problem. The DVD was introduced and the VCR has slowly faded away into people's closets. Today's top retailers don't carry very many VCR tapes or movies anymore. The demand just isn't their anymore and I look for that to continue until no tapes are available.

DVD players have made VCR players just a dinosaur that no one wants anymore. In fact most stores who still sell VCR players can be bought for under fifty dollars. That's even more than some of the newer DVD players cost. VCR players and tapes will probably be collectors items real soon so if you still use yours cherish it as you may not see another one for a very long time. The VCR was good in it's day, but that day has passed and so has the VCR usefulness. Just like the cassette tape the VCR has filled a void in our lives for a little while. Now it's time to move on to better things.
